This weekend will also see the inaugural Women’s Australian League T20 World Cup. The inaugural event in 2002 saw 20 countries, many with smaller populations, competing for the same prize money.
It now has more than 12,000 players worldwide, an increase of 14 per cent in the last 10 years. That tournament was held from January-March this year in Perth, Australia, in an attempt to boost awareness for the game.
Bantu, the first two-time captain, took her game to the next level by scoring her first T20 World Cup century after 16 overs against Australia. Bantu did not bat for India in this one – she played all of her one day games against the top women’s side, which won the tournament after beating India, England and England-Birmingham.
The world-class Aussie scored a century in all her internationals, including six in the T20 World Cup win. The Women’s Aussie National Team have been at the heart of Australian success – Bantu played the only ODI for India this year against Bangladesh.
At the Women’s International Cricket Council’s annual meeting in Dubai last year, Bantu said her cricketing ambitions were much bigger.
“The game of cricket was taken from me in one sitting when I was six years old,” she told reporters in Dubai. “My entire sporting life was taken from me in one go, when I was only seven years old. So it’s a life-altering experience.”

Land rezoned for latrobe valley housing developments.
Latham, CA – The Bancroft Partnership has entered into a lease agreement with the City of Latham to operate a multifamily housing development, according to information provided by the Latham City Engineer Department.

Other Latham Village improvements, such as public plaza improvements, landscaping and other landscaping will help ensure that the revitalization process brings this area of Latham to its full potential.
The project’s developers are looking forward to making an important step in making this important area the best neighborhood in the Latham Valley.
